WHAT IS A GICLÉE PRINT?

A Giclée (jhee-clay) print is the highest quality print available today.  The word Giclée is a French word meaning `to squirt’.  The process is digital printmaking with a printer that uses minute droplets of archival ink to create prints that cannot be duplicated by other printing techniques.  Because there is no visible dot screen pattern the resulting image has all of the subtle tonalities of the original art.  Each dot may have over 4 billion possible colors.  This produces exceptional museum quality prints.

My colors were almost impossible to reproduce because I use many glazes and other color printers tended to pick vibrant hues and leave off the most subtle.  With this new technology the printer can achieve a true reproduction of my original in any size up to 5 feet, printed on archival watercolor paper.  The new inks used in Giclée printing have the same longevity as the watercolor paints I use in my paintings. The end result is that the Giclée process is perfect for watercolors.  The translucency of the museum quality Giclée shows exactly like the original and when framed cannot be distinguished from the original.

The Giclée is shipped unframed, both to hold down the shipping cost to you and to allow you to choose your own frame to fit your home or office decor.
